Day 9: Shopping and Mountaintop Restaurant
First, we went to a few shopping malls. One of the most memorable stops (apart from the luxury of Taipei 101) was the SOGO Shopping Mall, with its daily opening ceremony. It sports a Tokyo-made “It’s a Small World” clock above the front entrance, and is one of Taiwan’s largest malls. Every morning when it opens, Disneyland’s “It’s a Small World” plays while the clock counts down towards the opening time. It’s a daily attraction that a lot of residents go to, and free beverages are served as you enter the mall when it first opens.[/vc_column_text][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/2″][vc_single_image image=”3313″ img_size=”large” alignment=”center”][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/2″][vc_single_image image=”3314″ img_size=”large” alignment=”center”][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][vc_column_text]While we walked around, we also enjoyed visiting its massive food court, complete with international foods and local cuisine. We obviously had to try some of the local dishes… the long lines were worth the wait! In the picture below, you can see sesame chicken and noodles and some wonton noodles with a side dish of sticky rice.[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”3315″ img_size=”large” alignment=”center”][vc_column_text]After lunch, we did a lot of window shopping through each of the 12 floors of the mall, and you could essentially find anything you could ever want (low end to high end) here. If you still can’t find what you want, there’s another SOGO Shopping Mall across the street! Both of them are massive!
In the evening, we got together with the family to have supper at The Top, a mountaintop restaurant with a stunning panoramic view of Taipei. There was an extreme abundance of food (so much that no one could even touch a few of the dishes), but every part of it was delicious. But most importantly, we were able to get beautiful shots of the day and night time views of Taipei City.
