Day 2 Morning: Temples and Landmarks
Our first official “full day” in Taiwan, and we were ready to sightsee! Our first stop was Lungshan Temple, in the oldest Wanhua District of Taipei, built in 1738. Throughout history, this temple has been destroyed and rebuilt by earthquakes, fires, and wars. However, Taipei residents have always retaliated by rebuilding and renovating the temple to its former glory. We were very lucky to have visited the temple and admire the architecture, artwork, and artifacts that spanned the giant landmark.[/vc_column_text][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/2″][vc_single_image image=”3325″ img_size=”large” alignment=”center”][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/2″][vc_single_image image=”3326″ img_size=”large” alignment=”center”][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/2″][vc_single_image image=”3328″ img_size=”large” alignment=”center”][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/2″][vc_single_image image=”3327″ img_size=”large” alignment=”center”][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][vc_column_text]After a walk around Lungshan Temple, we had our first beef noodle soup, a staple of Taiwan cuisine.[/vc_column_text][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/2″][vc_single_image image=”3400″ img_size=”large” alignment=”center”][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/2″][vc_single_image image=”3401″ img_size=”large” alignment=”center”][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][vc_column_text]After lunch, we headed to the National Chiang Kai-Shek Memorial Hall, a national monument and landmark commemorating the former President of Taiwan: Generalissimo Chiang Kai-Shek.
